An augmented reality snapchat experience

Snap Art is a lens developed by Snapchat that gives users an augmented reality experience through the Snapchat app. As a collaborative project with American artist Jeff Koons, Snap Art aims to create monumental art installations without actually having to build the physical installation. Instead, users can activate the lens within the Snapchat app and view the digital monuments in real-time. With different installations scattered around the world, users from across the globe can get in on the excitement and view art in a new way like never before.

A digital art experience

The success of Snapchat filters is undeniable and similar technology used to create the iconic puppy dog face filter is applied here to create something even grander. With Snap Art, users can experience art like they never have before and all it takes is a smartphone with the Snapchat app. With that, users can visit any one of the installation locations to view a unique art piece specific to that area. With a similar theme, all digital monuments have a shiny, metallic look stand at dozens of feet high. Featuring balloon animals dogs, flamingos, rabbits and more, the pieces are huge, but only through your phone. In reality, the space is empty.

Across the globe

Snapchat users from different cities and countries can experience their own installation simultaneously by visiting any one of the installation locations. Available in cities like Toronto, Sydney, Paris, New York, London and more, many Snapchat users have the chance to see the unique pieces in their own backyard.
